Seeking Jeebus in NY Nov. 14, 15 or 16

I can add a leaf to the table and seat 5 (...6, with my partner). There is a catering business - with takeout service - nearby. Their specialty is roast chicken; they sometimes have roast ducks, too. A zillion sides - hot, cold, greens, starches, legumes, cheesey. Modest breads but there is a Maison Kayser here, too, so no worries on that front. (I also have another better-than-the-caterer bread outlet in case MK does not suit.)

For cheese/charcuterie there are other shops.

I'm close to Mile End, if Montreal-style pastrami smoked meat is the thing.

The neighborhood is heavily Middle Eastern so that whole spread of foods is also available nearby. (...really crispy falafel from the Damascus Bakery...)

Also, we can get some Dartagnan duck legs confit (occasionally, a local shop makes confit, too); they are easy to sizzle up in a pan with some goose fat.

Ground lamb + cast iron pan = lamb burgers.

No need to go to Left Bank. Delivery or take out Chez Beaucoin would be dandy. And Keyser is easy and mellow and affordable. As is BOHK.
We're about a week out we should come to a final decision: We'll be 6 people in a restaurant (Jonathan + Gail, Cliff, Scott, Jayson, Jeff) but 7 people at my house (+ Jim) so my house is out.

Maison Kayser or Bite of Hong Kong?

Indifferent. Jonathan’s call.

There seem to be about a dozen Maison Kaysers in NY. Having never eaten there, I don't know whether it's good or bad. We did like Bite of Hong Kong.

I applied my vast and secret expertise to the task - meaning that I called the restaurant and said I'd like a reservation for November 14 at 7pm for 6 people.

Other than having them ask me if the reservation was under the name Jay and my telling the it was under the name Jeff it was pretty straightforward.

Why did Jay, who is not even coming, have to make this reservation? Is it only he who has the secret password?
Jay speaks Cantonese.

Ah, and here I thought you wanted me to make the reservation when it was really some other person named Jay who speaks Cantonese. That makes a lot more sense.

Shall I cancel the reservation I made?

Just as a matter of random interest, as a result of an exchange with Jayson on another board not to be named, I am bringing a 2005 Pepiere Briords Muscadet as one wine. It's the oldest Pepiere I find I have. I have one older L d'Or, but that wasn't in the exchange.

Great! If I had known, I would have pulled an older one.
