NYC Jeebus June 2025

VLM

VLM
I'll be in NYC in mid-June and have some free time to Jeeb.

The best night is probably Thursday June 19. Next best is Monday June 16.

Anyone down?

Also, while we are at it, looking for food recommendations near Gramercy Park both casual and not. Know about Atoboy, Borgo, Jua, COQODAQ but curious about good sushi (can be pricey if it's worth it) and other Japanese food, Indian, other southeast Asian, Mediterranean, and if there was good pizza (preferably with a good wine list, but not 100% necessary) that would be a plus.

It is possible to spend stupid amounts of money on sushi, especially omakase sets. I shy away from those and prefer one of my local haunts that gets fish from Tsukiji and serves real wasabi root. But if I did one I would try Sushi Nakazawa first.

For other Japanese food I like Secchu Yokota (you've been there), Torishin (classy yakitori place), I'm eager to try Yakitori Kono (another cheffy place).

Thai food at Mayree.

Korean food is all the rage, as you have already noted. Have you been to Jungsik?

There are a lot of fancy Indian places, too. I'd like to try Kanyakumari, specializing in South Indian, I believe.

Pizza, however, is a contentious subject!

That is a good call, and not far from Grammercy. I wanted to go there for lunch next week, but they aren't open for lunch during the week.

Thanks for these recs. Have done Jungsik and Secchu Yokota forgot about yakitori!

This was on my list, forgot where I read about it.

Naturally! However, if there is a "good enough" place in the Gramercy neighborhood that would be great to know. I've got 3 kids and the sitter with us.

Wylie Dufresne's pizza shop is not far from Grammercy, but I've never been:
