Pete, thanks, but not going to help me identify my old bottle, which has no number on the neck and for that matter, no alcohol proof either. Presumably, it's from the 1960's or early 70's, but I have no way of verifying that. Heck, I cannot even tell if it is the yellow or green version!

Pete, how was the Grivot? I loved that wine when it was initially released but haven’t had it since.

Maureen, in a word, "extraordinary". Grivot has been and is on a roll; unfortunately, higher prices are starting to reflect the quality he puts out. This wine garnered a good bit of conversation, and rightly so.

As best I recall...

Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits St Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru '10 -- Moderate red, various aromas of red fruits headline nice fragrant complexity, medium-bodied, good purity that is elegant and rich, components nicely in balance, no hurry with this trophy, good length that holds together. [E - O]

Grivot Boudots was, until recently, the best “value” in Burgundy, alongside M-G Chaignots. I did a sort on cellartracker on acquisitions and learned have bought more bottles of grivot boudots than any other Burgundy (51 - but I drink them so only 23 remaining. Ah, the fun of cellartracker!)

Steve, this wine, in my view at least, would have shown better had it been served before the Burgundy (the more classic sequence...again, in my mind at least). Even so, it was a delight to enjoy.

Domaine de Chevalier Graves '70 -- Good red color, light aromas, red fruits, mild cedar, tannins in abeyance, medium acidity balanced nicely with the fruit, still some silky complexity and lift, a classic Graves that should be drunk sooner rather than later. [E]
