Jim, yes, I know what you mean. I was a beneficiary of others' generosity with the wines for this dinner.
A rarity -- every wine qualified as the Wine of the Night. Even so, by a gnat's eyelash, the Clos de Tart was my favorite on this occasion, from a magnum no less.

How did the 2012 Chetillons show? I've heard some reports that it's still a little tight.

Jay, I have to avoid fizzy drinks so I can't comment personally. Instead, I had to suffer with an early pour of the Raveneau Butteaux.
I will say that all the comments I heard from others about the Chetillons were highly appreciative of having such a fine Champagne (that apparently is rarely found?). I didn't hear any equivocations.
