2015 Enderle & Moll

Early days in my exploration, but I might lean closer to His Corpulence on the Wasenhaus evaluation. 2019 Am Kreuz and Bellen were both very delicious and enjoyable, in the same fresh clear style as E&M. Am Kreuz was simpler but such fun the bottle was gone in a flash. Bellen had more going on, but not sure I understand the aging potential as it still felt like mostly easy juicy fun.

I will keep buying more because they were fun and am curious to explore. But initial reaction is that prices feel high to me and there's no way I would buy these at US prices.

The Ziereisen wines can be impressive, but have struck me as pretty polished. Perhaps that what's meant here by the Dujac reference, although my mind goes first to stem inclusion with Dujac. Frankly, the more recent D'Angerville wines are also polished and I'd consider them peers of Ziereisen in that regard. But the Ziereisen has had a bit more obvious fruit than most Burgundy.

I just opened my first Ziereisen wine, the 2014 Blauer Spätburgunder (regular issue). Very pure red fruit with little secondary or or tertiary character. Jean’s comment, “Tastes like the grapes.” I can see perhaps what you mean by polish if by that you’re referring to zero funkiness. In comparison to the E&M wines, which I know better, this has none of the earthy elements I find in those. I have a few vintages of Schulen to better explore with.

i used to drink a fair amount of this bottling. last time i had it i thought was amongst the better basics of the region. my more general problem with these wines is that as i went up through the 'quality levels' i just liked each of them less and had less understanding of what they were supposed to be.

if i could incite you to open the schulen sooner rather than later, i'd be genuinely interested in your own contrastive opinion.

Thank you for the input. I have a few bottles of the 2013 Schulen, so I’ll open one up in the interests of scientific enquiry. I note that the improbably named “Arsene Wengert” has opined about it thus on the Interwebs: Duft nach Tannennadeln und getrockneten roten Beeren, aromatische SpäBu-Nase nach welken Blumen. Im Mund saftig, schöne Säure, etwas Tannin, getrocknete Sauerkirschen, dann welke Blumen, etwas erdig-herb-pflanzlich, Salz. Wird immer schöner. Richtig guter Nachhall.

Which to my ears sounds more E&M-like than the bottle I recently opened.
