And I’ll also put in a plug for sparkling Gringet from Ayze. Dom. Belluard is the best known producer.

Unfortunately, Dom Belluard died recently. I am not sure what is happening with the estate - does anyone know?

I had a frank discussion yesterday with a representative of the CIVS. In brief, this is what I found out: The employees are continuing with the work to finish/bottle the 2020s and the 2021 grapes are being harvested. The future is as yet unknown, but as the family will not continue, the domaine is likely to be sold. However, I believe the family wish to try to keep the vineyard holdings/cellar/house together i.e. to find one buyer. This will take many months, if not years to resolve.

Now that might rank as the most provocative statement made on this bored in quite some time. My problem with performing that experiment is that I’m not at all sure what you consider “well-made.” I have some fancy antique ones, etched glass and all, but are they well made? I honestly haven’t a clue.

Well-made in my book are glasses that even I find hard to break.

Our household doesn't drink a lot of sparkling outside Moscato d'Asti, but we've preferred white wine glasses over flutes for a long time. We'll break out some tall and pretty flutes during the holidays for guests and the festive effect. Always dread dish duty on those days.
