Ah, this is obviously the Tchichikov our local Pavel is allusioning to. Solved. Thank you, Cole.

That was a short round. Next?

Transliteration choices abound - the name of the 18th-19th century governor general, admiral, and minister of the navy is spelled with a 'ge' and an 'a,' which you'd have to transliterate as 'k' and 'i' to achieve Tchichikov. An initial 't' is less of a stretch, IMHO

Only if I transliteration the name as Chichikov. But, yes. I am ashamed to admit that I have never read Dead Souls.Jonathan

Not to be a Dick, but transmigration might be more useful than transliteration when dealing with aspirations toward Dead Souls (but I'm no Timothy Archer so what do I know?)

Congratulations Ian! I gotta think that any Doctoral degree having to do with environmental science, sustainability, ecology, or anything vaguely related to getting us out of our current mess would enable you to write your own ticket at any corporate or academic entity located anywhere you'd want to live. Maybe I missed it above, but what was the topic of your thesis?

Am I correct, then, that there is hot demand for mid-level paper-pushers?
At universities, at least, yes. For over 20 years, the growth has been in associate and assistant deans and provosts of this, that and the other.
