I would avoid Monprivato.
Vietti Castiglione was an over-achiever in 2016.
Baudana is good.
Vajra is good.
If you're already going to pay $120+ for F. Rinaldi you may as well keep looking.
Burlotto Monvigliero is a good choice.

Hey Jeff, funny I was about to have them stand up the '12 monprivato...Rare wineco imports it I would have thought great?

These all seem young.

‘15s have offered a lot of joy young. The ‘15 Baudana Ceretta or the ‘13 Burlotto Acclivi would be my choice.

this is a no-brainer if i am mark e : only two wines at 13.5

Funny, but true. Since I have had a fair amount of 2013 Roagna Nebbiolo, and like it a great deal, I would probably pick that. But most of the others seem too young (I do also like Cavallotto).

I've mostly been disappointed with it since the mid-90's vintages. FWIW, Galloni has gone completely negative on it. Girl with a curl so you've been warned.

That's because they are. VG: 2016 has a lot of stuffing so probably won't be ready unless you've got lots of decanter time. 2012 is not great, 2013 is disorderly, the others will be a grab-bag.

Why is a Barolo necessary? I imagine this restaurant has some Langhe Nebbiolos from similar vintages....

Agree. Though the Vajra Albe is more or less a Nebbiolo d’Alba to my mind.

Here's the langhe nebbiolos.

I wish I could post the whole list, but they don't have the current list up on the web.

OK, here's a question: does the Rule of 15 apply to Barolo?
More like Rule of 30 or more.

But Vajra Albe is an exception that drinks well on release.

So does Burlotto Monvigliero and this is so far below current market rates it'd be almost mandatory to order if they still have it.

I am ridiculously clueless about Italian wine (that actually might start to change). Any other areas? Here is a link to the posted list (older than current): https://static1.squarespace.com/sta...45/Mucca+Osteria+Wine+List+2022+-+5_14_22.pdf

Many thanks for the thoughts. We go tonight, and one of their cellars is offsite, so any thoughts soon welcome.

Too many overpriced wines - and so young - but I would order the 2016 Ar.Pe.Pe Rosso di Valtellina if I wanted nebbiolo. The list is not very imaginative, and really lacks diversity, leaving out many great producers who are not "names." Honestly seeing their wine list, I would doubt they use great ingredients in the kitchen, but who knows?

generally yes

my exception is 04s from porro that are gorgeous now
Funny, but as in the Syrah thread, Piedmontese winemakers often suggest otherwise. I remember reading that Beppe Rinaldi preferred them at about 8-10 yrs. I think with current winemaking being what it is and the direction the climate is going, there’s plenty of joy to be had at many stages.

I really liked the '15 Colombera and Garella Bramaterra on release for something that’d be drinking well now.
