A couple of wines have reinforced trusting my instincts when it comes to not drinking wines too early.
2010 Domaine St. Anne CDRV Notre Dame des Cellettes. As VLM well knows, this is one of those hidden gems in France that bats way above its weight - as good as a good CNP, but its own thing. An old school delight. I bought a lot of this, kept checking in - and it is finally getting there. A powerful cold night delight, dense garrigue, minty backbone. Solid secondary wine, just yes.
And another...2005 Pierre Bise Anjou Village Sur Schiste. Andrew Jefford completely freaked over these wines a couple decades ago (yes - it was a couple decades ago...). And you know, he was right. Implosive (I hate the overuse of this word, but it is right here) - a neutron bomb black star of a wine, just turned in on itself and kapow ----
And I finished all my '02s of these ten years ago...and always thought...I really should just wait.
