A couple of wines have reinforced trusting my instincts when it comes to not drinking wines too early.

2010 Domaine St. Anne CDRV Notre Dame des Cellettes. As VLM well knows, this is one of those hidden gems in France that bats way above its weight - as good as a good CNP, but its own thing. An old school delight. I bought a lot of this, kept checking in - and it is finally getting there. A powerful cold night delight, dense garrigue, minty backbone. Solid secondary wine, just yes.

And another...2005 Pierre Bise Anjou Village Sur Schiste. Andrew Jefford completely freaked over these wines a couple decades ago (yes - it was a couple decades ago...). And you know, he was right. Implosive (I hate the overuse of this word, but it is right here) - a neutron bomb black star of a wine, just turned in on itself and kapow ----

And I finished all my '02s of these ten years ago...and always thought...I really should just wait.

So you're saying the PB Sur Schiste evolved into something more interesting than before? Because my memory is of a neutron bomb black star of a wine!

Well, I don't have aligned experience...it was of the 02 and potentially the Gamay...that wine was just dense, dense, dense...this one seemed like it was just emerging from density - did you have it in the past?

I took your notion a a bit further. Maybe a bit further than makes sense.

Going to be in town anytime soon, Brad? I have this and the St Gervais still from 1998.

Hey, those are mine!!!

I love that St. Anne.

I said this long ago, but if you ever see Eric's old St G Cadinnieres cuvee, it is super. Unlikely tho.

I still have the 2000.

I used to drink his reds during the aughts and wouldn't necessarily have thought to age them (obviously, I don't have any more). I would be very curious how they aged, as it sounds like they retained that black rocky character even after all this time.

You still have the 2000 Cadinnieres? Damn. I still remember that wine.
