I couldn't decide what I wanted with meat loaf. After thinking about Merlot, Zins, Italians, etc., I opted for an older Cabernet Sauvignon that I know is quite evolved.
Husic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon '01 -- Strange cork (with a plastic cap) totally crumbled (maybe the worst I can recall), solid dark red, nice Cab aromatics, tannins smoothly resolved, flavors still intact, dark fruits, oak well integrated, decent staying power and length, actually a surprisingly (especially, given the cork) appealing Napa Cab. Needs immediate consumption. [VG - E]
Paired nicely with meat loaf and farro/white bean salad, then cocoanut mint cookie.
