Moving to the DMV

Randy McCluer

Randy McCluer
Hi folks, been forever since I've been active here, but a few patients may still remember me. My family & I are moving to Bethesda this summer from Dallas, so I'm hoping there is still an active DC-area crew here.

I currently have about 20 cases stored off-site here, and will probably need somewhere to have my whole collection delivered instead of the house mid-move, so I'd love any advice on storage rental. Not finding anything in MD, so I assume Domaine, Zachy's, etc are the best bets? Disorderly store & restaurant recs are more than welcome as well.

Really looking forward to getting back into jeebing and planning to get up to NYC much more often now than Dallas life allowed for.

TIA,
Randy

There is still a DC contingent on this bored including among others Professor Loesberg, Maureen N, Bob S and myself. I store wine at Wide World of Wines on Wisconsin Ave but I think they ran out of space long ago (but it might be worth asking). I am aware of other storage locations but have no relevant experience. Perhaps someone else with more information can help.

Hi Cole, glad to know you, Maureen, et al are still in the area. Will be very nice to remake some old acquaintances to help ease the transition.

Sorry again for being so late to that dinner at Lavendou 20+ years ago ;) Hope I'm allowed to redeem myself with more adult-like punctuality in the near future.

Welcome back, Randy. Unfortunately, Lavandou is no more.

I store at home but I think Domaine is the space of choice if you will be in Bethesda. It is right by Calvert-Woodley if you remember where that is.

We'll have enough basement space that I could make on-site storage work, but this is likely only a 5-6 year house for us. Doesn't seem worth the investment to build out custom storage when have a decent-sized cabinet.

There is also a place called the Wine Rack on Wisconsin in Glover Park. I stored there 30 years ago. I think they are still open. I don't know more than that

Hey, I store there now too, Cole - didn't know you were there. I think they built a couple of additional lockers recently, although I do agree they are mostly full at this point.

I'm around for the occasional jeeb in the DC area if folks get together.
