So are folks drinking the Peter Leipold wines?

I took the 2020 Silvaner Schilfsandstein to a dinner last night I organized to introduce some friends to German wine. It was a big hit. Bold and attractive, but also refined. Most people thought it was more expensive than the 2020 Clemens Busch Fahrlay Terrassen GG (they wanted to guess prices, not my idea), which was probably too subtle for many to appreciate in the setting.

But Leipold seems like great gateway German wine, plus all the refinement and nuance for us jaded palates!

No, because I cannot get them where I am. Not sure what you mean by bold. Intense flavor or big (aka high ABV).

I am greatly enjoying Hirschhof Silvaner 2021 from the Rheinhessen. I think you would like it. Bold it is not. Quite aromatic and very "silvaner-y."

In this case, both.

Although I understand some other bottlings are more restrained.

So happy to see this. Peter is a fantastic winemaker and is just getting started. He apprenticed with Klaus Peter Keller and then KP brought him to our attention. Try his entire line up. The Bacchus is a refreshing, pleasing wine. A couple of his Pinots were extremely good. And just in case you are in need of a 3 Liter Bocksbeutel there are still a few floating around, you will be assured to be the coolest at any party if you roll up with this.

Three Liter Bocksbeutel

I am working on a very cool project with him for 2023 two Roses made from Frühburgunder and Domina. And before anyone gets riled up these are passion / not for profit projects.
