Accendo

So the Araujo family gave up the Eisele vineyard and now...

The Accendo project is committed to the same ethos of excellence the Araujo family is known for, but this time the focus is on the art of blending. After working with a single site for decades, they are now blending fruit from several of the best vineyards throughout the Valley, aiming to capture a sense of old-school Napa wine from its heyday in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Not being a big fan of Cabernet Sauvignon these days, I'm trying to decide whether to attend an upcoming dinner featuring Accendo wines complemented with a well-crafted dinner.

Any thoughts?

First, if I have a chance to taste, I damn near always do it. What’s the worst that can happen?
Second, in my experience with the Eisele Vineyard, it produced wines that were recognizable to the terroir. Blending that “sense of place” out of the wines seems counterproductive.

But if you can depend upon one thing in Napa (and most other places), stuff changes.

I’ll be interested to hear your report.
