Domaine Jamet Cote-Rotie '95 -- Medum red, voluptuous well endowed bouquet, medium weight, solid dark fruits, light gaminess, good complexity, nice length, quite enjoyable but perhaps could have a bit more charm. No rush. [E (barely)]

Worked well with grilled strip steak, mixed roasted vegetables, and sweet potato fries.

Jim, agreed...my notes indicated I paid $35 per bottle. I'm seeing current quotes ~$600 (and have to wonder about the provenance?).

I think Pete’s note is spot on. I’ve always liked this wine. But after having it a few times between say 2013 and 2016, I sold the couple bottles I had left. Albeit not for the much higher price it has risen to since.

Domaine Jamet Cote-Rotie '95 -- Dark red, lusty bouquet, black berries, spices, firmly textured, concentrated but smoothly so, black fruits, roasted gaminess, complex, and lots more, still seems almost youthful, a real treat. [E]

Nicely paired with sauteed kufta, baked potato, and snow peas.

Worked ideally with oven baked pork and greens/leeks.

Domaine Jamet Cote-Rotie '98 -- Good color no edge fade, complex aromas, dark fruits, a bit peppery and meaty, smoke, full and integrated with power, everything in balance, elegant, good length, plenty of time ahead, everything a fine aged Cote Rotie should be. [E]

Worked beautifully with grilled lamb shoulder chops, Swiss chard/snow peas, and French-fried waffle potatoes.

There was a time when certain experts on this board or its predecessor instructed us that Jamet after about 1991 (IIIRC the date) wasn't any good any more. They said the same about von Schubert, Fritz Haag, Tempier, and probably a few others that I can't recall now (dates of supposed declines varied).
