Jim, you and I dialogued a while back about this producer...

Domaine de la Cote Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir '14 -- Good color and aromatics, so smooth and luscious, balanced, good fruit, desirable lasting power in glass, drinking well now and built for more near- to mid-term cellaring. [E]

Really a fine bottling. And no wonder it is so smooth -- alcohol listed as 12.5%. Easily qualifies as one of the top California Pinots.

Paired nicely with sauteed octopus and spinach/new potatoes...then sugar cookies.

When you are dialoguing, is that like talking with your fingers crossed? Do you stand on one foot while talking? Or do you speak in pig latin?
 
Jonathan, thanks so much for that as I have been expecting it ever since I hit the send button, albeit more clever than I was expecting. I thought you might be harsher, which would have been fine also...and deserved.

I just like that usage of "dialogue" as a verb...very descriptive though improper.

In 2016 I had a chance to taste much of what Sashi makes including the Sandhi chards (probably 2015’s). There were several different bottlings but after two or three, I had to stop - the sulfur was overwhelming (for me). I don’t know if that vintage was yet in release but there was no way I could get past the smell.
I have since heard that they are pretty wines and very high quality but every time I see one I think “JJ Prum” and I pass.

As for the Dom. de la Cote Pinots, every one of those I’ve had have been character driven and very well made and the Bloom’s Field designation as been world class. I’ve not had the Siren’s Call but hear good things.

And the Evening Land wines are also nice.

So, I just received an offer at a chance to spectate a golf tournament. Should I go, do I have to dialogue with my fellow spectorators? It's no sin to like something. But some preferences are best resisted.

Only if it is a curated tasting of artisanal wines. Otherwise, no way.

Jim, I've always known that there was just something about you that reminded me of Joe Dressner but I couldn't put my finger on it until now!

-Eden (remembering the first NY jeebus I'd ever attended when I brought a bottle of the 2000 Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle Spätlese Auction bottling and Joe spent half the night out on the sidewalk blowing his nose and cursing German wines and their sulfur regimen)(I was pleasantly surprised that he actually spoke to me after that incident)
