Huet-a-thon : Interest in West Coast version? April in...

4pm on the Saturday works for me.

I have:

'10 Huet Demi-Sec CdB
'08 Huet Moelleux Premiere Trie CdB

I know this is Huet-a-Thon, but I also have '95 Foreau Moelleux Reserve.

It might be interesting to contrast the '95 Foreau Moelleux Reserve with a '95 Huet Moelleux if folks would be up for that.

But, I also understand if folks want this to be all-Huet.
 
i was thinking a bit earlier like 1PM... lots of wine to metabolize...
also it's a bit of a drive from Napa so i would wish to prolong the time spent.
also we can order Gioia pizza if we wish to round out the afternoon with some reds... or even before perhaps and start the Huet at 3 or 4pm

Hmmm we could start it earlier but day drinking isn’t my norm. Pizza could work. Have you had pizzeria di Laura? I’ve heard good things about it (I do like Gioia too). My wife can’t eat gluten, so we’ll have to have more than that, too.

had not heard of pizzeria di Laura, but upon searching for said pizzeria, certainly has the bona fides.
i sentimentally prefer Gioia since I have finally committed the spelling to memory. how about New York style from both? and the bonus is listening to Brad kvetch about The Real Deal NYC pizza.
it's just my unwritten rule that time spent traveling to a destination is more than the total travel time...
i also just thought it would be grand to have a bunch more time with folks i had not met before and especially a longer time if Brad is coming in from NYC (and breaking my time spent rule handily)

It's not a question of fitting you guys into my travel schedule, but if I can convince a buddy to join me in AZ. If tes, I'll add a CA swing. If no, I'll likely be staying put in NY.
 
Mssr Lipton : What is the occupancy limit of your establishment?
Mssr Stein : Not to worry. Huet Scholarships are available.... if pizza is a thing, a nice wine for that would fit the bill.
 
Mark, our dining room table seats six and we have a sofa and two chairs in the *********** that have a coffee table adjacent. Additionally, should weather permit, we have seating outside for six more (and a large and small table).

P.s. our bird feeder out back has been a roaring success. Jeans Merlin app has been working overtime to identify all the little suckers. Unfortunately, after a month and a half of quiescence the local squirrel population has also discovered it.
 
Our issue wasn't squirrels, it was rats. We saw a couple at night climbing down a branch to get to it. We got rid of the feeder the next day.
 
I will say that Bay Area squirrels are far less aggressive in their plundering of bird seed than the grey squirrel population in Indiana, probably because other food is more plentiful here. Larry, I did see a rat puttering down a pedestrian path last week. It hightailed it outta there when it caught sight of me, again far more mellow than its NYC counterparts.

Just wanted to check in re timing etc.. - four or earlier? We wouldn't mind a slightly early start just so we don't get tight on time. We're very happy to meet up earlier and perhaps go for a walk/stroll through rose garden, whatever...we're just happy to part.

I am also Huet-less, but do have some Foreau Sec '11, '13, and '14 if folks want a little trio of that. Also happy to bring something to trade for the deep Huet folks.
 
Getting to the East Bay on a Saturday is no problem at all. I'll bring one of the older ESJ reds I just purchased to go with the pizza.

We have enough Huet for the Chenin Blance experience, so no other Loire fan faves necessary.
I do strongly wish to meet earlier. Perhaps 1:30-2PM to 3PM for pizza and then spend 2 hours or so with Gaston and Noel.I would not desire to rush thru tasting a good range of Huet wines.
And for me, since I don't know many of you, I wouldn't mind schmoozing and reminiscing about the 1980 Ridge Howell Mountain zinfandel.
 
The Seattle contingent is just excited to be there, whatever the details. We will be there! The Mme and I will attend with bells on. Thanks to Mark A for organizing and Mark L for your gracious hosting. Thanks Mark A for driving as surely that's not your preference.
