Huet-a-thon : Interest in West Coast version? April in...

heck, i don't mind driving at all, but not enthused about spending more time in a car than being at the event.... including traffic i couls spend 3 hours easily in the car

John Dorfman MD wishes to join our group.Okie Dokie?

Shall we set a definite time for meeting?

2PM for schmoozing and pizza (i don't mind earlier)?
3PM for delving into Huet?

And how do we propose to declare the Huet samples to be imbibed?
Each person that has Huet to bring will offer :
1 sec or demi-sec
1 moelleux or Constance
and looking for wines with at least 10-15 years of age?
and that way we can easily cover those with a paucity of Huet in their cellars

and perhaps those suffering Huet deprivation can bring a wine for the pizza?

many thanks to all! MSA

That should be fine, Mark. Right now I have a head count of 9:
You and spouse
John Dorfman
BJ and Mme
Yule
Larry
Myself and spouse

Am I leaving anyone out?
I am offering up a 2019 CdB sec and 1996 CdB 1er Trie (I have an ‘02 as backup)
The plan sounds good. My wife is gluten intolerant so we’ll have some gluten-free nibbles as well, perhaps a selection of sushi.

Mark Lipton

I should be able to bring the following:

'10 Huet Demi-Sec CdB
'08 Huet Moelleux Premiere Trie CdB

Thank you Mark L for hosting and thank you Mark A for organizing!

Great, I will bring some older N. Rhone for the pizza, perhaps an 08 Gonon or older Gilles Barge. I don't have any rule compliant Levet (all drunk up) but happy to bring younger bottles too. Or, if folks want to take a peek at 09 Beaujolais I could bring a couple (Tardive, JP)...Just stuff that comes to mind...

Ok, I blew it: we’ve got tickets for the Giants game at 1:05 on Sat the 20th. Yes, I’m an idiot, I admit it. That being said, we could host on Friday or later on Sat if that works for folks. So sorry to pull the rug out, but hopefully we can find a plan that works for everyone.

Redfacedly yours,
Mark Lipton

We unfortunately can't make the evenings as we will be at the jazz shows.

Seems like we are in a conundrum timing wise, someone won't be able to make it. If it's eves sounds like no go for us and Mark A.

Friday afternoon does work for us, tho I see hard for Yule.

A possible workaround would be to start at 4 pm or so, thus permitting BJ et Mme to skeedaddle for F&S when desired, but continuing past 6, thus allowing Yule to appear. Easy enough to have an ice bucket on the ready. But all planning will await Mark A’s input, as he’s a key player in this tragicomedy.

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,

I am out for a Huet-a-thon on 19 April or late Saturdays.

John has magnanimously proposed to nourish our souls and stomachs on 20 April at high noon. He & Nickie reside in San Mateo. We would start at high noon. Nickie & John are stunning chefs!!

Obviously this precludes Team Lipton unless they can persuade Bob Melvin to walk very very slowly out of the dugout to the umpires for lineup exchange.

Marico is not able to attend as she readies her work for the Smithsonian Craft Show. Paul Costigan has offered to substitute, although I am not sure he can make it to San Mateo.

Huet wines only to maintain theme fidelity and John rises to this challenge. And yes, Putin has assigned me the duty of overseeing the wine agenda.

Takers?

Perhaps John will provide a sausage course so as to make the best and wurst out of this situation.

Bestest, MSA

Damn! Sorry to cross you up this way, Mark. I wish we coulda made it work. I could mebbe have Larry hand carry Friday’s remains back to San Mateo for y’all.

Mark Lipton

Ok, the more I think about it, the less sense it makes to have two events that weekend, so let’s just stick with your plan, Mark. That way, Yule and BJ won’t have time conflicts and Larry will have a shorter drive. I won’t be able to make it unless we get a rain out, but tant pis.

Mark Lipton

The country cousins from the north will gratefully attend, and do our best not to embarrass ourselves or others. BJ and Mme are in! Many thanks to Nickie and John! Mark A...let us know what we can bring wine wise!

great.
so Mark, you do recall Spahn and Sain and pray for rain? let's revisit when time draws nigh
i will ask John if he wished s to publicly announce his address and phone numbers. if i don't respond to the email noted above in 24 hours, then it might have gone to spam and just tell me on this thread.

As a Giants fan, I have often felt the truth of that ditty, Mark. We can chat more about this at Belotti, at which BTW I’ll be going solo as it’s our son’s last night before heading back to college.
