Another bottle of Cheap Crap. A wine I have now loved for almost three decades, a glass of Gerald Talmard Macon-Chardonnay always brings a smile, this, a '23. BTW - that is Macon-Chardonnay as in the village, not the grape, though the grape is Chardonnay. Get it? Always well balanced, full but not flaccid, balance of mineral and fruit, sort of a no brainer. A bit apple-y but not overly so. Just a tich of that north Macon hairspray. I miss the cheap Macons of yore and this is a holdout.
For those looking for something a bit more terroir driven, do check out the Macon-Uchizy. It's definitely got that very particular northern Macon hairspray thing going. I do like it but not quite as glou.
