I also find Closel blocky. Pierre-Bise as well. Epire too, and it has(had?) a rustic edge. I even find Laureau a bit old fashioned. Last time I had Roche aux Moines it was the same, but it sounds like there has been a generational/style change.

Last couple of vintages of Epire have been very good to my palate. I'll check in on one soon but I'v never found the wines clunky or blocky at all.
Roche aux Moines can be richer but I just assumed they were in a Demi-sec style.
Closel has never wowed me except the Jalouise I have enjoyed. But I don't buy these wines.

I think so too! We also have Plaisance Savennières and Baudry La Croix Boissée Blanc at the same price. It's really just public service.

Late to the game but I’m also a buyer. Though I seem to buy the Anjou/Anjou Françoise. And though the prices have gone up a bunch In think Eric Morgat’s wines are excellent, if flamboyant.
