Nice lineup of wines, Pete. Was that Terre Nere anywhere close to being ready to drink? I'd think that a 100% Nerello would take more time to soften up. I do envy you that '64 Mascarello, especially paired with that tagliatelle dish. And I hope you guys gave that '95 Latour plenty of time to air, as it's a monster.

Mark, thanks...and, yes, the dinner and especially the wines were a special treat.

The Terre Nere had been double decanted and was excellent. I never sensed that it was not "ready" to enjoy on this occasion. I kept revisiting my pour(s) throughout the evening with delight.

The Mascarello '64 was extraordinary. A good bit of bottle variability but all pours were a marvel. It was exquisite with the white truffle/pasta course. Another wine I kept joyfully revisiting as the evening progressed.

The Riesling was the best Riesling I can recall having and an ideal pairing with the halibut/lobster/asparagus dish.

The Latour '95 had been double decanted and showed as well as an almost 30-year-old first growth should. Frankly, it paled a bit given how much I was taken by the other wines.

The Zind-Humbrecht Tokay Pinot Gris followed suit with its predecessor wines of the evening in measuring up in every respect.

Altogether quite special event, especially given the uniqueness factor.
