Pete,
As always, I appreciate the post.
But I’m pretty sure there are no wines on that menu that I would go out of my way for.
Maybe a taste of the Y’quem; maybe not.
But I do hope you enjoyed them.
 
Jim, understand. The wines showed well, especially the Chateauneuf.

Surely you would have enjoyed the Ch Guiraud '09 with the wonderful dessert. Not an Yquem, but a quality fill-in, for sure.

i would surely enjoy guiraud '09 but with sticky buns from dog team tavern in middlebury vermont, rather than with sticky toffee pudding

Tom, the Ygrec was most enjoyable. The 25% of Semillon balanced out the Sauvignon Blanc so well plus the bit of sweetness improved it even more.

Very fine pairing with the scallop preparation.

Surprisingly, I just had the Y '17 on Saturday. I will report on it later but it was out of balance with aggressive bitter green sauvignon blanc character.

You are in Brooklyn. The good stuff sold there isn't "Y" , it's "Y not"

People disagree about wine. It's best just to accept that. Citing other people who share your taste doesn't make you right. It just means that you have found more people who accept your taste.

I think that's generally a good description of a characteristic that I enjoy. I am more surprised to see Pete's reference to sweetness, which I don't remember in older vintages.

Jonathan, good point. I was just amazed at the apparent near universality of ratings even higher than my recollection.
