Tom, I mentioned several times during the dinner that, among the quite interesting lineup of wines, the Bouchard Chevalier-Montrachet '96 was clearly my wine of the evening. I got extra pours and kept going back to it -- and given the disordered nature of the dinner such haphazard drinking of the Chevalier was not unreasonable.
The wine was delicious, still fully composed, and showed no signs of failing to "survive the ravages of time". I can recall having good luck with the white '96es in general and have a high regard for the 1996 vintage.
