Tenuta Monolo Bramaterra Riserva QuestionAnyone have any experience with Tenuta Monolo? I did a little research (mainly Cellartracker) and read some very positive reviews mixed with some negative reviews.
I would be interested in learning more about Tenuta Monolo if other people have datapoints.
Several of those notes were probably mine. The first two bottles that I opened, an '89 and a '90 were both badly corked. Shit happens. The 2000 was a beautiful bottle of Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo, one that I'd put on a par with some of ArPePe wines that I've had. The '91 was a curious experience, a fine wine but not very characteristic of Nebbiolo as I understand the grape. Caveat: it's by far the most aged Alto Piemonte wine that I've had, so maybe I just don't understand the aging curve of those wines yet.
It's also quite possible that the 2000 reflects a refinement of his winemaking since my other experiences were from far earlier vintages.
