Always a fan of Rollin, but have more exposure to the whites, so time to do a check-in with a few red 2022s.
2022 Domaine Rollin Pernand-Vergelesses is perfect for my palate. Very pretty and generous in the 2022 mold, but also delicate precise and elegant in the PV village-level mold. I don’t know how this will age as it’s clearly not a deep wine, but it brought me so much joy right now (13%).
2022 Domaine Rollin Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Grands Liards is a darker bramblier burlier wine. Lovely perfume and still showing the precision of Rollin and the region, but this is a PV-leaning Savigny and plenty of firm structure, despite the vintage. Maybe this ages well, but today, nowhere near as charming as the PV village (13.5%).
2022 Domaine Rollin Pernand-Vergelesses Les Fichots
This starts off tighter than the other two but quickly opens to reveal dark silky layers of ripe fruit. Here we have more power, but still the crisp delicate mineral Rollin PV touch. Overall, it is a nice wine for dinner but this may not be my favorite vintage for the cuvee. At 14% alcohol, I am reluctant to go long. But would be curious to taste in the future once it resolves.
