A few of the usual gang, Brad's excellent cooking (demand the chorizo minestrone next time you see him!), and grape squeezings:
Dautel 2023 Bonnigheimer 'Gipskeuper' Riesling Trocken - actually pretty good (and I'm not a trocken guy), this lacks the body that a little RS would bring but the ripeness is well-chosen, maybe a benefit of global warming (sez Brad)
Cazin 2007 Cour-Cheverny - herbal, unctuous, painfully dry, but long in the finish; we're all a little mystified by it, but Jayson says it totally blossomed overnight. "not a wow wine but very balanced, with a Szechuan peppercorn note in the nose, it decided 'Wait, I am Romorantin and I should show it!'"
Chidaine 2008 Montlouis "Clos du Breuil" - we're not mystified at this one... oxidative nose is off-putting but the mid-palate is good, and the finish is long and complex; OK, maybe we are a little mystified at this one
Kilburg 2023 Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese - 8%, 26040952524, nice, typisch flavors, maybe a little acid-deficient?
Champalou 2002 Cuvee Mouleusse - kinda OK but I see no real reason to ever buy this maker
Brun J P (Terres Dorees) 2009 Cote de Brouilly - amazingly good, quite structured, rather plummy strawberries, a point
Petit Roy Ronsin 2022 Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Beaune - semi-carbonic, well-made but a little anonymous, Brad called it natty, Jayson said it drank "like a whole-cluster Pommard" two days later
As always, thanks to everyone for a convivial atmosphere, good conversation, interesting wine, and extra thanks to Brad for hosting and cooking.
