Now I'm trying to figure out what it was she didn't like. California merlot? Texas hybrids (Eden is a sneaky one)? Teinturier grapes from Malta?

What she didn't like? Everyfuckingthing. French Merlot, West Coast Merlot, West Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, younger Bordeaux, Zinfandel/Primitivo, really no Pinot (French or Oregon), Syrah, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, southern Rhone blends, Mourvedre/Monastrell on its own, Grenache on its own. Aussie anything. South American anything. South African Cabernet. I even tried her on Pinotage, which I don't even like. She'd drink sweet whites, but if I drank it and it was red, she was out. I was banging my head against the wall. To paraphrase George Thorogood, "I drank alone." '75 Lafite and the penny finally dropped. She still won't drink dry whites, and now I have to find the key that opens that lock.
She's come around on so much that she professed to dislike: Pinot, Tempranillo, Merlot, Sangiovese, Loire Cab Franc, blah, blah, blah. She didn't like Gamay. WTF? Life is so much better now.
Texas hybrids. Are they as bad as Midwest hybrids?
