when i taste professionally i always take notes, but when i am drinking with dinner i never do. its a shame, and i have to start writing something down. last thursday i had 4 great wines, each of which i loved, but i don't remember exactly why. i have vague recollections of joy, i remember the broad strokes, but the specifics are gone.
well, for what its worth, i highly recommend any and all of the following:
-98 raveneau valmur
-05 annabelle and bernard rion chambolle musginy les echezeaux
-96 mugneret gibourg clos vougeot
-95 domaine a. dervieux cote rotie la vialliere
the final wine was a surprise. i had never had it before. it is made by rostang and is an incredible bargain. relatively light, nimble, old school northern rhone.
last night i had a lovely 06 roulot aligote. crisp, citrus, mineral, and not in any way heavy. perfect aligote with oyters.
