2001 Celler Joan Sangenis Priorat Mas d'en Compte Blanc alc 13.5%, ( 50% Garnatxa Blanca, 25% Picapoll Blanc, 25% Xarel.lo )... sweet ripe cantelope nose...viscous and semisweet with melon, lime and apple on the palate..not crisp but more smooth and delicate....a bit of nutmeg on the finish...really quite interesting both in taste, texture and finish...this certainly has benefitted from some bottle age...still going strong... a good showing!

Best white Priorat, no question, followed by the quirky, "Belgian-made" (Dirk Hoet) Nunci Blanc.

It is well possible that I don't really know what I am talking about, but I have found the Mas d'en Gil "Como Blanca" Priorat white to be excellent in the past.

You do know what you're talking about. I would rank Coma Blanca among the best, too.

Heck, the progress of whites has been the main (and most unexpected) development in Priorat over the past few years...

Even though the price has been creeping higher year after year, I'm still a semi-regular buyer of the Les Brugueres. I do enjoy seeking out new alternatives for Catalonian whites, so the other references in the thread are appreciated.

2001 for sure was one of the best vintages for that wine. The problem I have with that wine is its lack of regularity from year to year. 2003 was so-so, 2004 again very good, 2005 and 2006 disappointing, haven't tried yet 2007. 1998 was the first vintage and I tried last year and still was very good.

What about Clos Nelin? It's a white I always enjoy, despite it is twice the price of Mas d'en Compte. I also like Coma Blanca.
