Off the Record Drinking

Sadly, I lack the imagination to make up characters as interesting and varied as the ones I meet at Kane's place.

I disbelieve you.

Great story report!

Brad, you've infected them, you fat fuck.

Yixin-

Given that the only time we met you spent most of the evening vomiting in Connell's toilet because you drank too much, doesn't give you the liberty to post such things.

What's with the censorship? You of all people shouldn't casting aspersion.

I am sorry if I hurt your feelings, you fuck.

I would like to clarify that, having sized up the situation, I was minimising my contact with Kane the fuck by staying in the toilet. It is no coincidence that since then:

1. My pronouncements on wine have not shown any sign of Kane infection
2. I have never spent that much time in a toilet no matter how much I've drunk
3. Kane the fuck and I have not met again

If even Kolm can be Kaned (cf. bizarre statement on Boxler), then the rest of us should be very careful.

I think what Brad was saying is that it is well known that Asians can't handle their liquor. As a fellow racist, I tend to agree with him.

Referring to the '90 Trimbach CFE VT as dessert wine sends chills of horror down my spine.

in defense of claude, he didn't refer to it as dessert wine, merely late-harvest wine, which it is.

Re: popcorn (I too love it) - have y'all tried Rancho Gordo's heirloom red popcorn? Fabulous stuff - check it out

(sorry, I've never learned the skill of posting links under cute names)

Was Kane censored? What did I miss?!

I don't mind if you talk while we drink. I might even join in. It's the alternative that leaves me cold.

Actually, the proposition was to drink something else while discussing, say, Alsace.

This is the touchstone experience of the Theresa paradijum?

I'm sorry, what?

I understood your intent, but because those words in that order made very little sense to me, I chose to ignore them and go ahead and continue with my own narrative.

There's a bottle going around with a good bit of frowniness and head-scratching. I take a look, it's an Eric Texier Ctes du Rhne Brzme Pergault 2006. Ripe smoky black cherry aromatics, tastes watery and hollow, with a candied edge. Nothing interesting here, which is kind of annoying because I used to love these wines, back in the late '90s/early aughties. Perhaps just a bad showing, who knows.

Had this tonight, and it's showing nothing now. My vote is for totally shut-down. Or you can count me among the bad people who have misconstrued this wine.

But there's just no way that Eric made a bland, oaky tasting wine from the grapes at this site. And there's no way SFJoe and vlm enjoyed wine that tasted like this one at the moment.

My bottle was from CSW.

How long has it rested since shipment?

I'll try one this week, only then can there be any validation.
