What wine are you all cracking open for Fat Tuesday?

What wine are you all cracking open for Fat Tuesday?I'm going with jug wine.

Since I'm doing solo daddy daycare tonight, I'll be lucky to get a glass of K-J Chardonnay at a neighborhood get-together. Overall, David's probably better off with the Nyquil.

Since my wife is going out of town for the rest of the week tomorrow morning, I may have to open a bottle of something tonight, as I'll be less likely to do so as the only parent for night time duty. Who am I kidding, I'm always on night duty. As the parent my kids like less, I have significantly better luck getting them back to sleep in their own beds than my wife does.

What's the least fat Tuesdayish wine I've got? Cot La Pepie? That should do the trick.

As a kid I convinced myself that Pancake day was a real holiday and therefore demanded pancakes for dinner, which was probably the only real demand I ever placed on my parents my entire childhood.

cheers,

Kevin

Had my yearly lunch with Kermit today; we forgot it was Fat Tuesday. We ate punterelle salad with cardoons, egg and anchovies, squid roasted in the wood-fired oven, and pizza with Lucques olives and leeks. Drank a Cotes du Rhone Kermit blended with Louis Barruol, a Grenache Blanc/ Vermentino blend made by an old hippy, and a Wylie-Fenaughty Syrah made by Thirsty Pagans. I hope Marie Lavaux approves!

I'm trying to decide between something called "Dry Red Table Wine" by Rene Junot, and a Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2007. I'm leaning towards the former, as I am soooo over the tired juxtaposition of wine and monkeys. It's just so 2004.

Having sampled the Monkey Bay 2007 Rose at a friend's house recently, I can attest to its being neither buccaneering nor fun. And this despite the near-perfect cellar conditions at the local CVS Pharmacy where it was purchased.

an old raj martini, stirred, up with olives. repeat...

92 or 110 proof?

110, didn't know there was a 92...

Look for the label with the red border (rather than blue).

which do you prefer? why?

I was actually trying more to suss that out from you.

The 110 is the original, I believe. The 92 is a bit cheaper.
