Unsolicited Aggressively Commercial Post - Dinner with Marc Ollivier

Chambers Street Wines is sponsoring two heavily subsidised dinners, during whatever LDM is calling this year's winemaker tour. The first is with Marc Ollivier at Five Points Restaurant on Sunday, March 22nd @ 7:30. He will speak some English, sort of, and will pour 05 Briords, 02 Briords and 96 Briords as well as some current releases. Should be fun and will cost about $75 total. The second is with the charming, English speaking Matthieu Baudry, Monday the 23rd same place and time. He has sent over some 89 Grezeaux, 96 Croix Boissee and an unidentified Chinon Blanc and will pour some new releases also. Both dinners will be four courses, no dessert. Email david@chambersstwines.com if you're interested, Five Points can seat about 25 in their back room.

Welcome, David Somethingorother, to Wine Disorder, the best place on the 'net for trying to find dates for lonely French winemakers! OKCupid has nothing on us!

or could miss work Monday and Tuesday, I would surely go to these events. Marc and Matthieu are both intelligent, thoughtful, serious vignerons. They are also both great people.

I'm working on getting off, but it looks unlikely.

C'mon, Don, are you trying to drive the newbie away for good? Take it easy on the guy!

This place is so harsh.

Whaddya mean? I'm a big Downtown Uproar fan.

Seriously, as someone with no musical talent whatsoever, I'm in total awe of Jazz musicians.

I also have no mucical talent which is why I'm selling wine. I've had two musical nightmares already this week... The CBS record is better, but it's all acutely embarassing. Very good tasting with Christian Ducroux in Regni - has anyone else encountered these wines recently?

Well, that's a nicely-played Bari Sax solo you take on "Topsy." Ad-libbing like that can only come from a player that's got something in his tank, no?

I think we need to get together and blow some rust off our horns, perhaps fueled by a bottle of Ducroux. At this point we've both got no place to go but up.

To play fair - here I am in the 70s, muttonchops, hair and all

But why did I choose a bigger horn? Speaking of compensation, these dinners appear to be too expensive so we'll inject 100 billion dollars of CSW bailout money to lower the price to $75. Losing money is this year's theme, anyway...
