Hard to say.

More prolonged decanting may have improved it. Anyway, Jay has more, and was planning to source more, too.

Others liked it more than Jeff. And I don't own any more and decided to pass on buying more on winebid, reminding myself that my storage is full.

Started out unpleasantly funky but this blew off after a half hour or so and it developed into a lovely though certainly faded wine. I think it would have benefited from a long slow oxygenation treatment.

The Wirsching was really nice, carrying its high alcohol well. The Chapoutier was showing very little. The Chevillon was too ripe and young for me.

Nyah, nyah!
 
That was lovely (and it was Pascal), as was a gorgeous, unabashedly tannic 1996 Clape Cornas. (Pooh-poohed, however, by Jay.)

I should say, I've never had a Sancerre Ros with that much age, and it had developed in such a deliciously sapide direction, I was bowled over.

I don't understand Clape. Never have. Boring wine. Verset, Allemand and Voge all the way.
