2005 Meloni "Omarus", Vermentino di Sardegna, 13.5%. This must be a goth wine mascot. Rotting gardenia, smoke, blue cheese and honey waft from the glass. Add a touch of green apple...but put it in the background. Very grenache blanc-like at first on entry; flat, waxy sweet but then saline waves plow right thru the middle. Citric rinds almost like a Z-H from Alsace come through on the finish. A few subtle oxidized notes. Looks like some riesling and p.gris are part of this wine. Go figure. This is a strange and enjoyable wine. For $17 and this much fun, I'll buy again.
