Volatile Acidity

Is it always a flaw? I'm convinced that 2005 Le Brin de Chevre is sporting some, and the last few greedily consumed bottles of La Gaudriole tasted like a teaspoon of "apple vinegar" was mixed in. I did not sense that anything was running amok. The flavors were gorgeous to the point of bombasticism. I would buy and drink more if I could.

Hey Putnam

I'm not afraid of a little well placed VA. I'm certainly more tolerant than others.
Subjective is the in thing -- I know you'll have no problem rolling that way.

Be well,
L

1947 Cheval Blanc apparently had high levels of VA. Case ... closed.

But really, Musar makes a mockery of any claim that VA is always a flaw.

Mmmm... Musaaaarrrrrr...

Why go that far? Really. 1966 La Mission Haut-Brion ( or La Tour Haut-Brion from the same vintage, to give you a choice in case your local supermarket is out )

Hey, where's the post count? What's the point of posting if we don't get a post count?

No sweat, Jay -- I'm keeping the tally by hand. At this point I'm "winning".

Be well,

Come to think of it, no emoticons either.

Mmm, perhaps this is an advancement.

Please read the FAQ.

Can we really emote without the cons? I can't remember how we did it. It must have been really difficult.

well, its a new site, so would we have to call them neocons? we could then invade and liberate wine therapy!

I would like to post my fervent thanks for the absence of emoticons. I always prefer English. The absence of post counts, however, will reduce the number of count-puffing, empty posts, one of the great traditions--even if it wasn't an aesthetic target--of Therapy.

So those posts weren't spoofy then? That's a relief. Thank you.

They might be spoofy. English has so many resources, it can even spoof. It's just that none of them has descended into driveling idiocy. But give us time, give us time.

I love it. A touch gives a lovely brightness to the aromatics; but more than a touch can be great fun, too, as it is with e.g. Musar and Madeira.

A little VA is often good for a wine. Can it be controlled is the issue. Of course different people have different tolerance levels.

My post count is now 1.
