In the Chapel Hill, NC area . . .

. . . there is a restaurant called Elaine's. Nice place.
Nicer still, it has the 2005 Granite de Clisson on the list for $26 (750) and $52 (1500).
Best, Jim

Yowzers. Add that to the $39 Texier Pergault blanc at vlm's bro's little bistro in Durham.

I didn't know that the Pergault blanc even made it to the US.
Not even at Chambers St.

Heck, at that price, I'd think about getting a bottle or two to go.

The RDU area has quite a number of excellent places to eat. I'm more impressed every time I go back. Without equal in the southeast US (ok, I'm going to admit I know nothing about Atlanta and have heard that there are many places worth eating if you know you're way around)? Well, ok, New Orleans has some things to offer as well.

John,
Bounds and I used to make the Buford Road excursion most times I stopped in to his Atlanta place. So many ethnic restaurants out there and quite a few of them more than worth the price.
And its always interesting when we are the only gringos in the place.

And not even a ring?

Haven't been to Elaine's in ages, been meaning to.

VLM,
With in-laws and, frankly, not feeling especially well. 'Wouldn't have been much fun for either of us.
I'll be back up soon.
Elaine's has a very nicely chosen white list and an adequate red list. Food was very good to excellent.
Best, Jim
