Champagne 4ever & ever & ever & ever

While I suspect there's more of a (richer, i.e. spendier) specialist subscriber base for Champagne than Riesling, I'm not sure he could replicate Allen Meadows' success. Well, I wish him luck but I think I'm better off spending the subscription fee on that bottle of Champagne!

Talk about a 'strange attractor.' BTW, I thought I'd seen Meadows already reviewing Champagne.

Did Peter used to work at a small NY store called the Wine Shop, or something like that? The chap I chatted with there was promoting grower Champagnes four or five years ago as the coming thing, and predicted a regional shift from negociant- to grower-bottling, something like what has happened in Burgundy.

Well, I hope you are wrong.

Peter already has one masterly disappointment, the awesome Riesling Report. A man ahead of his time. I was kind of hoping he might resurrect it.

I'm ambivalent about Champagne, but not about Peter. It is always a pleasure to drink with him and to read his erudite prose.
