Hello,
We made a great dinner at the tgjp in Paris last friday with some jarrets de porc laqus, 2 Sancerre (Franois & Pascal Cotat) et 6 south Rhne 1998 & 2004 (Pierre Andr, Vieux Donjon, Roger Sabon, Bois Lauzon, Pegau & Gourt de Mautens).
See www.tgjp.com.
Ask any questions on the forum and I will try to answer.

Most interesting report, PAB. Of this list, I had only the Pegau (at the time of its release) and I recall it as very thick, almost like coffee, with heavy tannins. From your report, it sounds as if the alcohol levels from that hot year have left the wines unbalanced. As I have many of the wines you will revisit the question with, I will await your next report with some anxiety.

Hello,
I'm not a Pegau fan, because a good CdP must be fresh, balanced and pure like all others wines (Charvin, Clos des Papes, Ferrand, Rayas...). Drunk in the last 3 month, the 1999 was the worst (one part of alcool, one part of over-matured grapes), the 2000 was interesting with charms, the 1998 was too much for my palate (unbalanced).
