Buying Wine on the Web...a growing trend w/problems

Well, they have quite a large collection of opinions!

I am curious about the desire to have wine sites host reviews from other shoppers. That sounds like a good, egalitarian idea on paper, but maybe not in real life. For example, when I search for information on a restaurant that I've never been to, I regularly discount what is written by random strangers on random websites. Too often, the only reason someone took the trouble to write on the web is that they want to complain. Even if I do read someone's posting, I then go read a few others of theirs, just to find out whether they are "professional cranks". I think I'm not a fan of cluttering-up a wine store site with notes.

Is it too awful to admit that I have no clue how to navigate Snooth? I've tried several times and I can't make heads or tails of it.

Jeff, it's not too tough, really, especially for someone as good as you are with Web-related things (thanks so much for your tips on HTML -- I've learned a lot) Using the Search feature in the upper right of the home page, type in the name of a wine that you're interested in and it'll give you all the wines that hit your search criteria. At least, that's how I've used it to date. There is also that option of becoming a member, but I figger that that's probably tied to being able to post one's own opinions about a wine, a feature that really doesn't interest me much.

Me too. The opposite of intuitive, IMO.

Third that. Tried to figure it out once, couldn't make heads or tails of it. Seemed wayyyy overcomplicated.

I work for Snooth so maybe I'm biased but I really don't see the difficulty in using a search box, then selecting from search results. Now granted you're not our target audience but i would have expected you all to be able to figure it out.

Of course you do come into the black and white retrobox to play so perhaps i'm expecting too much. the colors probably stunned you.
