Idiot tax

Idiot taxNo, not a tax on idiots unfortunately, but apparently a tax designed by them:

It should make for some attractive "inventory clearance" sales these next few weeks. And, yes, there is also a tax on idiots: it's called a "lottery."

I always heard lotteries described as a tax on people who are bad at math. But I usually allocate about $10 a year to lottery tickets. I get my money's worth in a few minutes dreaming about what I'd spend the money on.

That's an easy one, Keith: just tell all your friends and neighbors what numbers you chose. They'll let you know when you've won!

Ah, that one's tricky. It took me a while to figure it out too.

You go back to where you bought it (though another venue which sells similar tickets will also work), hand it to them, and say "Can you check this for me please." They will take the ticket and pass it through a magical divination box and then look at you and say "Sorry, better luck next time".

Only if you buy more than one ticket.
How many idiots do you get if you win? It seems to me that is important info.
If you win, you get 10!
If I win, you get 10!
It's a win-win deal!
Trust me!

My dad won the lotto without playing. When he came in as the new boss to an office that had a weekly pool, he declined to join but ultimately tossed in a monthly $20 and said, "Just make sure the coffee station is always stocked up and do whatever you want with the change."

He was a little embarrassed when they won, but the new condo in FL made it a bit easier to escape the teasing.
