According to a norwegian winemaker in San Marzano, Frode Refstad, there has been heavy rainfalls in Piedmont lately. With already water-filled earth it has caused great damage. Several roads have been closed due to mudslide and the regional government have closed schools and declared state of emergency. Frode Refstad said he has lost 25% og his top vineyard the "Bricco Soria". Also many other vineyards in the area has been partly destroyed. Among the affected vineyards is also Cascina Francia.
