Medium red, slightest edge browning.
Classic cigar box nose, full dark berries and currants, no shyness, complex, maybe some pencil lead.
Evolved tannins, still vibrant berry fruits, so round and balanced (no edges), good Claret personality, mature and holding, a real joy.
Moderate length to delicious finish. [90]

Served with Grilled Porterhouse, Sesame Noodles/Cucumbers/Sugar Snap Peas...

I have fond memories of this wine... used to go often to a great French bistro in NY called Les Routiers that had a "Reserve" wine list of like 3 or 4 '70s Bordeaux and this was one of them. At the time it was the oldest Bordeaux I'd ever had so it was always a special wine for me. I was surprised to learn afterwards that the critical powers that be had panned it. Then a year or two ago I picked up a pristine double magnum of it from Chambers St.'s old Bordeaux offering. We opened it for Thanksgiving and it was just as satisfying as I'd remembered.
