Off bottle of '02 Briords

Opened a weird bottle of '02 Briords this week--all aldehydes and oxidation, though the color wasn't bad and the cork seemed OK.

Made me nervous, what with the whole white Burg nightmare.

Has anyone had recent experience with the wine?

A lurker has written to remind me that I had a great glass of this recently, which is correct.

This is the sort of reassurance I crave.

I'm not a lurker so Kane will not find this response sinister but I did try an 02 Briords a couple of weeks ago and it was just fine. That makes two positive responses.

So that makes us chicken breast? Maybe I'll go back to lurking...

Not to worry, Arjun. You're the Tofurkey of the Internet.

I had one recently that was still way too young.

It's a good thing to be chopped liver, by the way.

Chop your own liver, I need mine (and possible a couple extra.) That reminds me why I don't eat filtering organs.

cheerio,

Kevin

Lurkers are the ether of the internet. They make space a 19th century place, full of matter. Without them, we'd all just be talking to the few of us who post. With them, or even just the belief in them, we have the delusion of wider fame, without which no one would bother posting.

But of course if it is experiencing the same problem as white Burgundy then it will strike random bottles in a given case (with most current theories crediting natural randomness in cork permeability for the variation).
