Captain Tumor Man Rated No. 1 Wine Web Site by Wall Street Journal!

CaptainTumorMan would make my top 5. Along with Sharon's Wine Blog, Wine Terroirs and VLM-TR, although, to be honest, I'm not sure I'm getting my money's worth with the VLM-TR as there do seem to be lulls in posting there from time to time.

But of course. He's doing it for the lulls.

I felt guilty about my first response to this thread, so I went back and read a hefty chunk of Joe's blog, which led to the following shocking revelations: (1) David Lillie is a reverend, and (2) Joe prays for his sick friends.

The best blogs I've seen are Sharon's and The Burgundy Report. Nathan's is good too. Joe's has a kind of Daily News panache. It's also hard for a midwest rube like me to tell when his tongue is in his cheek.

From Coad's most recent literary creation, you have this ranking of wine websites. I certainly feel relieved to note that Nat Decants (#19) makes the list, whereas we do not. The humor's a bit coarse, admittedly, but it's still well played.

Oh yeah, and Sharon's is so current...please. There is much more content on the VLM-TR.

I don't know Wine Terroirs. Who does that?

I really like Wine Terroirs. It has everything a blog should have, pictures, notes, producer bios, events, bar reviews, stories etc. Makes other bloggers (myself included) look lazy by comparison.

Re: Wineterroirs

It's a regular read of mine, and was intstumental in helping with my itinerary for my trip to Paris last January. The pictures are just great.

Cheers,

Kevin

I'm number 58. I've never been 58 at anything.

My mom will be so proud.

Considering that Lyle clocks in at #77, you rock, d00d. Of course, Jamie Goode is putting you all to shame, including Jancis and Decanter and Asimov's got even TBPG beat. It would be rich if Dr. Vino can pull ahead of him in the next ranking.

Bertrand Celce, and I'm kinda shocked you don't know this one. It was one of the earliest wine blogs, I believe (actually, it was a pre-blog blog when it started), and has always had beautiful content, in every sense of the word.

my blog is also lousy with irrelevant searches
On my static site (rather than my blog), the #8 search last week was "Isengard."

Nah, it's lame.

That's what you get for firing-up that old palantir again.

Anyway, could be worse... could have been "Asgard."

I've tried to avoid putting that and related terms anywhere on my various sites, for obvious reasons. No reason to enrage the Scandihoovians.

My #1 search phrase aside from "Thor Iverson" -- and this has been consistent pretty much since the beginning -- is "how to pronounce Courvoisier". I did once write a print article in which I mentioned that brand, but it's surprising how often people are directed to my site for that info. (Which...and this is something I should probably correct...cannot actually be found on my site.)

"Claude Kolm" is the #7 phrase.

I have some terrible phrases that are really popular terms for reaching my site. The number one is obviously the name of my blog, but the ones right below it make me cringe.

The only one I'm really worried about is "cherry petite peachy," which I'm scared to Google myself.
