For instance, tonight Martha Stewart brought a large party to my restaurant. We were psyched. We proudly served our best pork butt and smoked chickens from Niman Ranches. A times I made sure plates full of bones were cleared.
We were allowed to suggest wine, so we offered 2007 Clos du tue Boeuf gamay, 2007 Minervois Chateau d'Oupia, 2008 Hofer Gruener Veltliner, 2007 Roussette de Bugey Franck Peillot 'Altesse' and NV Quinta do Infantado Ruby Porto. they also enjoyed our famous beer selection
but some of the whites weren't completely finished, and somehow I found permission to take them home, where I am now. the Hofer is like the pilsner of wine to me. I taste the raging heat of the sun and the quickness of the press. it's sharp and cute as a button, with lots of lime and salty melon flavors.
the altesse is sharp too, but slightly weightier. still, I don't remember this wine so dry and tart.
I love my new job, and I love everyone who comes there. Even the neighbor who never tips, ever.
I arrived home on my bike to find that someone across the street had been stabbed. the dope heads and hookers who loiter on the stoops of this burned out building disappeared as soon as there was trouble. and for good reason. they probably saw something.
