We wanted something "big" to go with Beef Paprikash...

2004 Domaine du Pegau Cuve Rserve, alc 14%...has some leather on the nose...a beautiful spiciness overlying black fruit attacks the palate...some tannins come in after 10 seconds but it is really quite approachable despite it's youth...really sings with the food...great upside potential for this wine

Wow! I am really surprised that this wine was as open as it seems to have been. I generally keep my hands off from years 3-8 with CdP. Good to hear that this wine has as much promise as it seems to: it's yet another birth wine for our son.

With the exception of the 95 (and maybe the 05), Pegau never seems really to close. It can be awkward, but not mute. I don't expect to start drinking my 04s for another couple of years too, but I'm not surprised that it doesn't discourage early drinking.
