Not that I'm surprised people are stupid, all I have to do is walk out my door and I'm treated to a panoramic display of mouth-breathing droolers.

I was only slightly annoyed by this in the greater LA region, I can only imagine how fucking annoying it is for you New Yorkers. Good thing you can't buy handguns.

Fucking Cupcakes.

Really, what kind of stupid child do you have to be?

As a side note, and maybe Levi can help, why is New York seemingly so full of dumb bullshit these days?
 
What did cupcakes ever do to you to incite such venom? Stop this campaign of cupcake hate before you drown in a sea of spongy goodness.

Imagine, if you will, how much worse it would be to have a franchise that advertises cupcakes, but then has none to sell.

This corporate abomination exists in the form of "Johnny Cupcakes". This past Spring, I walked into this supposed cupcake store on Newbury Street in Boston with the hope of nummy cupcakes to choose from, only to find no food at all (just a bunch of wealthy, big sunglass wearing, techno music pumping, debutants).

Be thankful.
 
I'm sorry; I doubt that anyone on this forum would turn down a warm, hipster, chocolate chip, unsulfured cupcake if offered one.

Why must cupcakes be over? Are Pizza joints over? Ice Cream shops? Chinese take-out? Cupcakes are here to stay(.)

I've heard it said that it is the wish of cake batter to become cupcakes. Therefore, it is up to the baker to ensure the batter ends up in little non-stick holes. Of course, this subtle formulation is inherently subjective.
 
One new trend (which I find rather charming) is to have a wedding cake made up of tiers of cupcakes. Then all the guests get a cupcake instead of a slice of inedible wedding cake (inedible since it needs to support the weight of the huge cake). My 1st cousin once removed had one of those at his wedding. In the event the cupcakes were just as bad as the usual wedding cake abomination but the concept is still valid.

The trend has passed its peak in this part of fly-over land as well, Kim. Of course, that means they may well be popular again in NYC - the cycles of the fashionable seem to be getting shorter and shorter.

Cupcakes are fine. Children can make them. They are not the height of baking finesse. The frenzy for overpriced frosting seems stupid.
 
Here in Santa Barbara, we have three new cupcakeries.
Population of less than 100K, three cupcake stores.

If cupcakes were stock, I'd be shorting right now.
 
Sorry for my tardiness to the thread.

As I have said to you before, nyc seems to be full of stupid shit when you don't know nyc that well. nyc is full of a lot, period. If you don't know enough about where to find the good, then the picture does seem lopsided.

For a demonstration of this assertion, please return to nyc and devote a day to the following:

after waking up...doughnuts at The Doughnut Plant

then...coffee at Abraco

next...sturgeon and bagel sandwich with cream cheese, red onion, and capers at Russ & Daughters

then...catch an afternoon movie at The Film Forum

afterwards...have a cocktail at Death & Co.; if with others, perhaps share a punch from the antique bowls

moving on to...a pastrami sandwich on light rye with mustard (which should be purchased from counter service only) at Katz's, Dr. Brown's Cream Soda chaser

several options then exist for a great glass of wine. Terroir, Gramercy Tavern, 'inoteca, and several others come to mind

finish the evening with an amaro at Lupa...or at that other restaurant with the 23 selections of amaro (mine)

then tell me again that nyc sucks. In which case if you do I will just dismiss your opinion as entirely fool-hardy.
