I just got my first taste of this Ominous Logic (yes, the Cuvee JK) and it's happy, Pynchon slapstick. I wish there was more of it out here. But the recent cult status seems to have made it completely unavailable. Why don't more people make wine like this?

So, after all the discussion in the other threads, I went tonight to get another bottle of this. I drank it over the course of 6 hours. It is, indeed, a very pretty wine -- pure, strong, dark-hued, vivid -- but it still does not sing to me in the way that Brun's Cote de Brouilly, Descombes' Regnie, or Desvignes' Morgon do.originally posted by Jeff Grossman:

True in general, but in this case Jeff likes wines with a bit more old wood and a different vinification. Quite different stylistically, but tasty in their own right. As to a preference, he's not crazy.originally posted by Ian Fitzsimmons:

A few weeks ago my friend Paul visited from London. He is widely held in high regard, so I gathered a few of his many friends to dine with him on his free night. The next day, we went out into SoHo to find some lunch, along with fb who was visiting from points west and had also stayed with me that night.originally posted by Jeff Grossman:

Balthazar was slammed by the time of our lateish arrival, so we wandered on up to Savoy. They have a few things on the list, but not a huge number. fb and I agreed that the Descombes Morgon was the thing.
Paul is a brilliant guy, but he has a bit of the British understatement (fb is mostly over this), and he gently tried to steer us to a Gramenon or something else from the south as the waiter went away. His hints were too gentle for his audience.
Anyhow, it turns out that Paul had been invisibly churning in silent horror thinking that we'd ordered the Duboeuf Jean Descombes instead of Dressner's Georges. We all had a good laugh of relief when the bottle arrived, and sent Paul off to London with a list of wines to seek out.
