Opened while performing inventory in my little storage locker.

Natural cork.

Still very primary. Virtually unchanged from when I bought it, and virtually unchanged after 2 hours in a decanter.

Crisp, intense, silky. Just gorgeous.

My wife and I drank a bottle of the 2005 Brezeme VV Pergault this week. It was much friendlier than a bottle tried almost a year ago when it first arrived here. I suspect that one must have been suffering from travel shock because it was all fierce acids and little else. This recent bottle started out primary and straightforward with ripe blackberry fruit framed with acidity, good tannins and a peppery finish. After an hour it really developed nicely, with more steely minerals and some dried herb, like oregano in the background. I liked it a lot, much better than a year ago. The fruit in the 05 seems very ripe, but the Brezeme acids kept it tasting fresh and tart.
