TN: Domaine de la Ppire Cuve Granit 2007 Vin de Pays de Loire-Atlantique

The nose on this wine is engaging with violets, cherries, herbs. Light in body with great acidity, it is very clean and has all sorts of things going on in the mouth plus a finish that gets longer with time the bottle was open. Matches equally well with burgers and four cheese pasta.

Might even be able to find something it would go with here. Or not.

One of my favorite wines every year, although I don't remember seeing the 'Atlantique' bit before - any significance to that?

A bargain at $11.24, delivered.

well, it used to be 'vin de pays de marches de jardin de bretania' or something like that (i'm sure there are some misspellings in there). maybe the french have changed some vdpays names? it has been cab franc, merlot, and malbec (cot) in the past.

Today's food suggestion on the site linked above is quite unusual, and probably contains too much residual sugar to go well with this wine (which was still drinking well on day 3).

I pine for the days of Marches de Bretagne. The notion of wine from Brittany was just so thrilling.

2008 just arrived and it is a pretty invigorating drink (enjoying with a chill as this is fresh off the delivery truck and I couldn't resist opening one immediately with lunch). Really vivid fruit that goes from fresh picked to a bit sweeter from start to finish.

Rats. I thought this thread would be about 07 Granit de Clisson, which Joe Dougherty momentarily waxed rhapsodic about in one of his reports, if memory serves. Any sightings?
